Chenganoor MLA Saji Cheriyan has been reinstalled as a minister after six months in the Pinarayi Vijayan ministry. He resigned from the post following a speech allegedly insulting the Indian Constitution. Saji Cheriyan has received a second chance following a police report exonerating the CPI (M) Secretariate member.

Governor Arif Mohammed Khan initiated the oath in a ceremony which boycotted the opposition. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, other ministers and the family members of Saji Cheriyan attended the function.

As per reports, Saji Cheriyan would get back the departments he had in his previous term. The minister had handled Culture, Fisheries and Youth Welfare in his first tenure in the LDF ministry.
