Sanju Samson will get a wonderful opportunity in Australia to prove his mettle in the international platform. BCCI has called up the Rajasthan Royal’s ace batsman to its one-day squad apart from the T-20 squad. The selectors have decided to put weight on the Kerala batsman over other wicketkeepers in the India squad touring Australia.

K L Rahul, the India vice captain, will be the first choice for the wicketkeeper spot in the Indian squad. However, Sanju has played a few outstanding knocks in the tournament, which received the praise of cricketing legends. The tournament has seen that Sanju has matured into a middle-order batsman who can control the game while chasing or building a score. Nobody doubted the talent of this batsman but, he has failed miserably on the occasions he got on the international level. However, the scenario has changed and he proved his capability in playing long innings and building partnerships.

Sanju has to prove his credentials in the next opportunities to shine at international level. He has surpassed his rivals in the domestic cricket by playing a few match-winning innings under pressure in IPL. His major rival Rishab Pant has failed miserably in the tournament and Ishan Kishan, another young wicketkeeper, has failed to impress the selectors even after playing few good innings.

The Australian tour will be the first international outing of Indian cricket team since the outbreak of COVID-19. India-South Africa series was called off due to the COVID-19 outbreak in March this year.
