The demise of football legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known popularly as Pele, has left the football fans in Kerala in torment. The leading personalities in Kerala have bid adieu to one of the greatest contributors who popularised the game in the state. Pele has considered one of the most known footballers in the state.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan remembered him as the person behind creating a huge fan base for Brazilian football among Keralites.  He mixed the wildness with the beauty in the game.  Pele has achieved incomparable feats in his decades-long career.  The Malayalees have placed the footballer close to their hearts.

Sports Minister V Abdurahiman wrote on his Facebook wall that Pele has played a key role in popularizing football across the globe.  He was the football ambassador of the world.  Pele also excelled in the role of social worker and the sports minister of Brazil.  His name will remain eternal until the existence of football.  

Central Minister V Muraleedharan has also shared his thoughts about the footballer. He said that Pele conquered the niche with dedication and hardworking would not die in the minds of football lovers.  His life was given color to the sidelined people.  

“Legends disappear from the world not from the minds”, Opposition Leader V D Satheesan remembered Pele. Mollywood superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal have also penned their condolences messages on their social media accounts.

“Thank you for making all of us love the beautiful game of football. Rest in Peace Legend. Heartfelt condolences to his family and well-wishers around the world”, said Mammootty.

“Farewell to the king… May your soul rest in eternal peace. Your contagious game spirit and the legacy it leaves behind will continue inspiring millions to play the game. Joining the world in mourning the loss of this legend”, Mohanlal wrote on his Facebook.

Kerala football legend I M Vijayan has also mourned on the death of one of the greatest of the game.
