Gokulam Kerala FC faces Churchill Brothers in the first I-League match of Malabarians under new coach Francesc Bonet today at Payyanad Stadium in Manjeri at 4.30 PM. Gokulam Kerala FC (GKFC) has made several changes to the team that lost against Round Glass Punjab FC.
GKFC have brought in 29-year-old Spanish coach Francesc Bonet, and two Spaniard players Omar Ramos and Sergio Mendi ahead of their clash against Churchill Brothers to revive their chance in the league. Omar Ramos, who has played in La Liga, has got ample experience in his position while Mendi has already proved his mettle in the previous I League season with 10 goals for Neroca FC.
Churchill Brothers have also added a couple of players and have brought back Spanish coach Fernando Varela during the Christmas break to pep up their fortunes in the league.
“I had a week with the players and I believe we can play outstanding football with the quality we have. Churchill Brothers SC are a good side but our aim will always be to win three points,” said Francesc Bonet.
Gokulam Kerala FC is in the fifth position in league with 15 points in 9 matches while Churchill Brothers are in the seventh position with 12 points in nine points.
