In Malabar, people are mostly united on two things. The first one is football and the second one is their affection for Middle East countries. The Qatar World Cup has blended these two emotions together and the Malabar has been enthralled in ecstasy.
Football is pure craziness, whether in Rosario or Malappuram in Kerala. The Kerala community has a special affection for this edition of the world cup as it is being hosted by one of their favourite migrant location, Qatar. The Malayali football fans in Qatar and Kerala celebrate the event like they are hosting it.
Qatar world cup would witness a large number of Malayalees in the stadium. There are a lot of people travelling to Qatar from Kerala, especially from the Malabar region, to watch the football festival. Like the last few editions of the tournament, the villages and cities in the Malabar region have flooded with the flex, banners and flags of the top team competing in the event. Apart from the super soccer powers, there is a fan base for the countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
“I am working in Saudi Arabia for a long time and the country has provided me with a good life. So I would like to support Saudi more than any other European or South American countries”, Abdu Haq, a football fan in Malappuram said.
There are fans who are cheering up for the host nation, Qatar. The Malayalees residing in Qatar are very much proud of the manner in which Qatar is hosting the tournament. The migrants working in Qatar have also erected the flex of the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in honour of conducting the World Cup in a fabulous way.
“Qatar is a second home to us and we are proud of the nation. The tournament would be one of the best when comparing the facilities and hosting. We would like to honour the contributions of Qatar and the Emir on our lives with a huge flex erected in our home town”, Suhail, a person working in Qatar said.
The football fans in Kerala are celebrating this once-in-a-lifestyle opportunity. Some have prepared even years before by saving the money to watch the tournament. Those who have relatives and friends in Qatar have the opportunity to watch the tournament as a gift from them. Anyway, the celebration is on and active among the football fans in Kerala and Keralites residing in Qatar.
