Enzo Fernandez, the Argentinian footballer has broken the English Premier League (EPL) transfer fee record with a €120m deal signed with Chelsea football club. The fee eclipses the 100 million pounds Manchester City paid Aston Villa for England midfielder Jack Grealish in 2021. Enzo played a key role in helping Argentina to lift the FIFA World Cup last year.

The 22-year-old midfielder will have a contract of eight years with the former premier league champions. Chelsea and other biggies in the tournament were behind Fernandez soon after the world cup. The youngster only managed to debut for the national team in September last year. However, he had a dream run since and even achieved the Young Player Award in the Qatar World Cup.

Chelsea had several discussions with his club, Benfica before reaching a final agreement just hours before closing the transfer window. Fernandez, many believe would rule the Argentina national team and world football for a long time, has got the best opportunity to exhibit his talent at the club level. For Chelsea, they believe this would end their poor run in the current edition of EPL.

The central midfielder has only played 10 matches for his national side. But the impact he had is unmatchable for a player with such a minimum experience at the international level. The right footer has scored a crucial goal against Mexico in the world cup and completed more touches than Lionel Messi with 558 to his credit. He created six chances and made eight shots to the target.
